MENT Ljubljana, 4th - 6th February 2015
MENT brings together music, art, creativity and media technology, merging and debating them. It takes full advantage of its geo-strategic position, showing pride in its small, yet unique, vibrant and diverse local scene, and showcasing carefully selected high-profile international guests and new music talent "from the Balkans to the Baltic and beyond". The Kino Šiška - AKC Metelkova mesto – Club K4 axis, combining 8 stages, will host more than 50 artists.
MENT is a music showcase festival and an extraordinary visual event in line with international music industry trends, and thus presents an excellent opportunity to learn more about the fields of distribution and digital technologies. The conference segment of the festival is expected to attract more than 200 music experts (agents, record label executives, promoters, organizers, managers and media representatives), and it is our privilege to announce panel participants from online music magazines Louder Than War and Muzika.hr, music agencies Charmenko, Password, Factory 92, Ink Music, Los Angeles Agency, New Kicks Booking, distribution networks The Orchard, Believe Digital and festivals Pohoda, Exit, INmusic, Iceland Airwaves, Eurosonic Noorderslag, Liverpool Sound City, Tallinn Music Week, Žedno uho, Waves Vienna / Bratislava and Taksirat.
MENT promises to deliver visual excess, among which we highlight Bitbanger Labs, who developed the Pixelstick lightpainting tool, which blew everyone’s mind when it was featured on Kickstarter in 2013. Ljubljana will also host Jono Brandel & Lullatone Studios, the inventors of the simple, yet unbelievably creative portable animation / sound kit – Patatap. We will talk with MEGAFORCE, a four-man directors’ collective that directed music videos for the likes of Metronomy, Tame Impala, Madonna, Kid Cudi and others.
Robert Henke is the co-creator of one of the most widespread computer programs for music production, Ableton Live. He will present this aspect of his creativity at a talk within the framework of the MENT conference. Music producer and documentary director Count (Mikael Eldridge) will hold a panel talk about his latest project – documentary Unsound – a project about the impact that free internet culture is having on all creators.
Organization: MENT Ljubljana is produced by Kino Šiška, its visual outfit is provided by the Multipraktik collective, and its conference segment is supported by SIGIC, the Slovenian Music Information Centre
