Natriletno kolobarjenje s praho – Iz Konteksta (Out Of/From the Context)
The duo with an intriguing name Natriletno kolobarjenje s praho (Three-year crop rotation with set-aside) is a collaboration between a man of theatre and poetry Jure Novak, and a versatile musician Uroš Buh (also known from the bands Buh, Same babe, Josip Brass bend etc.). Since they won first prize at the International Songwriter’s Festival Kanfest and released their debut album N3L in 2015, the duo has sporadically toured clubs and festivals around Slovenia. Meanwhile they have switched record labels and found production reinforcements at home and abroad. In October 2018 they released their second album Iz konteksta (Out of or From the Context), which is marked by feistier, heavier and more elaborate sounds, thoughtfully combined with Jure’s candid, sharp, engaged and intimate lyrics and interpretations. The synergy of sonic and textual imagery reveals the musician’s proficiency in narrative and rhythm of the words, enhanced by interesting percussive landscapes, heavy guitar riffs and pulsating, drone-like keyboards.
What happens when this particular poet and musician collide? There is no break from trivialities of everyday life. No space for prosodic clumsiness. Forgetting all preconceived notions, I suggest you lend an ear to their newest “set-aside”.
