21. 3 - European day of Early Music
On 21 March, the first European day of Early Music will be organized by REMA (Réseau Européen de Musique Ancienne / European Early Music Network) in order to bring this music to a wider audience.
On this day, concerts, conferences and other events will take place throught the European continent, honouring the European heritage of early music. 21 March is also the birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as the first day of spring. The event has received the support of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and is sponsored by the European commissioner Androulla Vassiliou.
The Slovenian festival of early music Seviqc Brežice will also participate in the event with a program carried out by Slovene performers at the concert on 21 March at 8 p. m. in the atrium of the National Museum in Ljubljana, featuring the following musicians:
Capella Carniola, Ingenium Ensemble, musica cubicularis, Nova Schola Labacensis, Mateja Bajt (recorder) and Egon Mihajlović (cemballo), Benjamin Izmajlov (violin) and Manca Izmajlova (mezzosoprano), Dalibor Miklavčič (cemballo) and a group of musicians: Suzana Ograjenšek (soprano), Barbara de Costa (cemballo), Kaja Kapus (cello) and Mateja Bajt (recorder).
