All Strings Detached - There is something painful about the pearls
All Strings Detached duo returns with their second album There’s Something Painful About the Pearls, where Jana Beltran and Vesna Godler are even more steeped into the melancholic intensity of their bare music.
This time, their sound is more intensely embedded in space, revealing itself through the gap and silence. Silence is a foundation, a carrier of soft guitar sounds, somber bass pulsation, and occasional percussive accents of their open and airy, dark ballad landscapes, shaded by numerous nuances of diverse emotions.
Two voices, intertwined with airiness, fragility and more rapturous emotional expressiveness, also carry melodies, subtly painted and underlined by the sound of the guitar. They seem to be shifting away from a straight division between intimate and expressive, yet they are capable of capturing numerous nuances and characters through which they build an atmosphere, which is an essential element of their music.
