Etno Slovenia 2011 and Jazz Slovenia 2011.
Compilation of Slovenian ethno music.
A double-cd compilation of Slovenian ethno music (world music): Music Routes – Highways and Byways, Slovenia 2011 comprises a wide range of performances of some of the most renowned and acknowledged musicians who have indelibly influenced the Slovene ethno music in the last three years. The various compositions featured on the compilation were published between January 2009 and June 2011, and were chosen by the selection committee composed of well-established experts on ethno and world music: the anthropologist and researcher of popular culture dr. Rajko Muršič (chairman of the committee), ethnomusicologist dr. Svanibor Pettan and music journalists Katarina Juvančič and Mario Batelić.
The opulent double CD is accompanied by a booklet with three essays written by the members of the selection committee offering an overview of Slovenian ethno music. The booklet also contains detailed presentations of featured artists in English as well as in Slovene.
The first compilation in the history of Slovenian jazz
Jazz Slovenia 2011 is an opulent production, including two CDs, essays (CD Greetings written by Hugo Šekoranja, Artistic Director of Big Band RTV Slovenia and leader of the selection commission for the compilation, and Jazz under the Alps Meets the World written by Mario Batelić, journalist and member of the selection commission for the compilation) and exhaustive information about the musicians in both Slovenian and English. The main criteria for the inclusion of compositions on the compilation was currentness and relevance, and it therefore includes compositions recorded between 2007 and 2011 that cover a broad spectrum in terms of genre and mood.
