Elvis Jackson
The Slovene rock band Elvis Jackson was selected Best Band and Rock Artist of the Year 2011 by the listeners of the radio station Somojo in Great Britain.

The British radio station and magazine Somojo presents independent artists and every year it hosts The Somojo Artist of the Year Awards. The awards, representing different categories, are given to musicians chosen by the radio’s listeners. The winner in the categories Band of the Year and Rock Artist of the Year 2011 is the Slovene rock group Elvis Jackson, which competed with mostly newer British groups.
In the past decade, the Elvis Jackson rock group developed a unique musical sound, integrating the influences of ska-punk, punk, hard core, reggae and metal. The group was created at the end of 1997 and after two years of intense performances recorded its first album in 1999 Move Your feet it's one O'clock (Rock'n'Roll Records). The album was followed by two more albums, Go Home and Practice (Rock'n'Roll Records) in 2000 and Summer Edition (EJ Rec/ Multimedia) in 2003.
The album Summer Edition was released both in cooperation with the German Grover Records, primarily for the German, Austrian, Swiss and the Dutch audiences, and with Rude Records, which promoted it in Italy, Spain and Japan.
The group’s initial performing experience provided the grounds for its musical development into energetic and multi-layered rock. The group continues to integrate different genres into their musical style, which also characterises their fourth album, Against The Gravity, released in 2009.
Last year the group performed successfully in various clubs in Great Britain, and will be returning there in 2012. Performances will be held also in the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany.
