Slovenia in the Spotlight at the Waves Vienna Festival and Conference
Between 2 and 5 October the Austrian capital will host the third international music conference and festival Waves Vienna. The annual event brings to Vienna many musicians, agents, music publishers, concert and festival promoters as well as media and business people from around the world.

Last year's second edition of the event featured 13 venues and recorded 10.000 visitors, more than 500 delegates from 30 countries and 139 musicians from 27 countries, which made it the largest such event in Central Europe.
The festival, which focuses on electronic music genres and on independent productions of pop and rock music, promotes networking as well as musical exchanges with selected international partners, in particular partners from Western, Central and Eastern Europe. Among its partners are also the Slovenian music information centre - SIGIC and the Slovene Music Week (STG).
Slovenia in the Spotlight
This year's festival and conference will shine the spotlight on Slovenia. This achievement is the result of cooperation and successful international partnerships carried out by SIGIC and its domestic partner the Slovene Music Week (STG) and are the accomplishment of an important target to promote Slovene music abroad.
The Focus of Waves Vienna includes performances by a great number of musicians from the country in the spotlight; some of the performers will also perform at special presentations intended for the conference delegates. Many conference presentations will focus on Slovenia’s music sector, cultural scene and its business aspects. The thematic meetings at the conference will provide the music professionals from Slovenia with the opportunity to establish business contacts and further cooperation with other participants.
Waves Music Conference
The music conference, which will be organized by mica, Austrian Music Information Centre, on Thursday and Friday, 3 to 4 October, will provide the stage for a thematic presentation of the Slovene music sector in three parts: Slovenia’s music and music scene in general, its music market and new ways and possibilities for cooperation with Slovene stakeholders in the field of music.
Performances by Slovene artists at Waves Vienna 2013
Various stages will host performances by all together nine Slovene music ensembles, to be confirmed and publicly announced in June.
