Tanja Sonc
Tanja Sonc is the winner of the 18th International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria.

The 19-year-old violinist Tanja Sonc became the first Slovenian musician to win the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach (Austria), which took place from 3 to 11 September 2011. The international competition with no age limit attracts each year more than 400 musicians of more than 40 nationalities. Tanja won the prize from among 114 violinists from 24 countries from Europe, North America and Asia.
The young violinist Tanja Sonc (1992) started playing the violin at the age of five with prof. Armin Sešek at the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory. She has continued her violin studies in the class of prof. Novšak at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana as well as with Wonji Kim Ozim at the Leopold Mozart Institute in Salzburg. Since 2009 her violin studies have been supported by the Gallus Foundation. She has won 21 prizes at national and international competitions and has taken part in masterclasses with renowned violinists, such as Igor Ozim, Stephen Shipps and Sylvie Gazeau. She is also the recipient of the Škerjanc Award and of scholarships from Yamaha and the Municipality of Ljubljana
