Slovenian Dušan Bavdek's composition among compositions performed at the 100th anniversary of the Austrian Composers' Society concerts
In celebration of its 100th anniversary, the Austrian Composers' Society (ÖKB) (http://www.komponistenbund.at/), whose work focuses on the Austrian contemporary music and on European networking, is organizing a festival with concerts, round tables and symposia from 10 - 17 June 2013.
The festival will include performances of a variety of music genres representative of the Austrian contemporary music scene ranging from pop music, electronic music, organ to contemporary classical music. The highlight of the festival is the Holocaust memorial concert, which will take place on 12 June 2013. The Austrian Ensemble for New Music will perform Ernst Krenek's Symphony No. 2 as a dedication to the victims of the Holocaust and to the many persecuted, exiled and murdered composers under the Nazi regime. It will also perform works by Austrian composers such as Walter Arlen, Joseph Horovitz, Roman Haubenstock-Ramati and Egon Wellesz.
The evening of 14 June will be dedicated to European music, featuring works by composers from Denmark, Slovakia, Germany, Romania as well as Slovenian composer Dušan Bavdek. The works will be performed by the European Contemporary Composers' Orchestra.
