"Young Researchers" is a platform designed by percussionist Dre A. Hočevar. It brings together different musicians of the youngest generation stemming from improvisational circles, including even some classically trained ones.
The recording of code::source under the direction of Gašper Livk is the second in this series and was recorded live during the ensemble’s performance at last year's Jazz Cerkno Festival. The recording of Cerkno concert delivers a quiet performance where individual contributions do not sound like solo pieces even when musicians are playing separately. This type of music making most likely articulates openness to an array of concert variations.
Code::source seeks out its own principles of musical improvisation, relying on sound or sound texture, even though it is passed through slow and long passages between solo or solo-like performance and group improvisation.
