Jaz, drevo - cycles and lullabies

Jaz, drevo or I, the Tree is an international trio made up of the saxophone player Cene Resnik, bass player Boris Janje and cellist Giovanni Maier. The Italian record label Palomar released their debut album.
Albeit the noticeable orientation towards improvisation, the compositions are based on the musical dialogues between Resnik and Maier, while Janje’s bass softens and colours their lines, only to properly intertwine in the last composition called Strange Lullaby.
Respectful dialogue between the saxophone and the cello dominates the soundscape; the former often asks questions and indicates direction, whilst the latter responds.
Since the line-up is small, the impulses that each musician receives from the surroundings are limited. Hence the articulation of every individual follows the flow of his own internal world, always committed to freedom and an open mind.
