The band Laibach has long outgrown the framework of the usual rock band. In the context of contemporary popular music it represents an integral artwork ("Gesamtkunstverk") and a cult of a rare, boutique variety, comparable in originality to the caliber of The Residents and Kraftwerk.
In contrast to the occasional return to avant-garde beginnings, their new album Also Sprach Zaratustra is a modern one, which, despite many references – some reach deep into history – stands firmly in the second decade of the twenty-first century. It displays an innovative and crystal clear production, in which ambient contemporary electronics intertwine with the "classics" and industrial accessories.
With the new album Laibach returned to experimental waters, from which, truth be told, they never really sailed.
