Zamee - An Indo-Balkan Music Project

Debut album from a group Zamee represents a new chapter in Slovene-Indian musical encounters. The creative core of the project is fronted by a puppeteer and musician Nika Solce, and a singer Sabiha Khan, the master of Indian semi-classical, folk and western singing styles. Musical accompaniment is provided by musicians from Slovenia, France and India (Matija Solce – accordion, Tilen Stepišnik – guitar, Toby Khun – cello, Žiga Šercer – percussion, Vinayak Netke – tablas).
An Indo-Balkan Music Project is a folk album based on female vocals where the traditional songs of Slovene, Macedonian, Roma and Indian origin intertwine with the tunes of Slovenian poets such as the 19th century’s France Prešern and contemporary Feri Lainšček.
The album is a welcomed transcontinental collaboration that always invigorates not just the musicians themselves, but the whole musical community.
