Cene Resnik Watch For Dogs Trio: Shades Of Colours

On this new international edition, the saxophonist Cene Resnik and his longtime collaborators Zlatko Kaučič (percussions) and Giovanni Maier (double-bass), joined in the Watch For Dogs trio, exercise their intensive, yet softly nuanced and harmonious grip of contemporary jazz and free improvised music.
In some ways the album summarizes both Resnik's tenor saxophone signature sound and the trio’s approach, bringing various shades of sound colors into the post bop, free jazz and free improvisation forms, whilst nuancing them through melodies, rhythms, intense, spontaneous, energetic concords and more lyrical resonances.
Shades of Colours was recorded in St. Mary of the Annunciation church in Crngrob. It seems that the space determines the character of the music, as it contributes to its calming effect whenever it expands sonically and rhythmically or turns into more intense, stormy or energetic passages.
Despite the trio’s criss-cross ventures within the spontaneity of their sound, overall tranquility still outlines all compositions.
