Jure Pukl - Doubtless

The main concept of the new project conceived by jazz saxophonist Jure Pukl, living and working in New York, is all about dual; a coupling of two tenor saxophones (Pukl’s and his wife Melissa Aldana’s) joined by Joe Sanders on bass and Gregory Hutchinson on drums.
Drums and bass support saxophone themes with solo inputs, connecting individual parts of the compositions as well as breaking the monotony of the motifs of both instrumentalists.
A concept of dual could be traced on a few levels. Namely, the instrumental section is divided to a soloist and an accompanist whilst other times we are witnessing a duplication of one instrument, carrying melodic material.
The play also takes place on two levels, although we often perceive it as a single one. The saxophonists are continually complementing each other, flirting, drifting away, drawing nearer and supporting one another to make the music more diverse and vibrant.
Doubtless is a work that departs from the classical models of music making.
